The story behind General Knot & Co. is the one about two guys of like-mind who happened to meet while waiting for a train to New York City. One of us was a design director in the Fashion District and the other a technology engineer in the Flatiron District. Even with totally different career paths, our conversation quickly revealed a shared adoration for great colors and patterns, all things vintage, and an unyielding desire to create enduring products. The foundation of General Knot and Co. was set.
With the world’s finest craftsmen right here in the U.S.A., there was never a question of where General Knot & Co.’s products would be manufactured. Our ties are proudly handmade by men and women in the country’s most sought-after tailoring shops. We thank our lucky stars everyday to be working with these artists.
We curate our tie fabrics through a countrywide network of collectors, dealers, estate sales and auctions. We especially love this part of our work. There’s nothing quite like the thrill of finding an amazing vintage fabric and giving it another lease on life. Each collection of General Knot & Co. ties are made in very limited quantities, uniquely finite and never to be repeated. You’ll receive your ties accompanied by an exclusively numbered card designating their exact places in the collection.
