Enjoy!

GK: Where and when did you meet?

We met on Tinder in 2015. Our first date was at SugarFish in Santa Monica

GK: Did your first impression of each other change over time or were you “right on” about each other from the start?

Megan: I was hooked pretty quickly. The most endearing thing to me about Jonathan was that he didn’t play games. I liked him and he liked me, he made it easy to not have to hide how we felt about each other.

GK: We know that you picked up and moved from California to Croatia to open the boutique hotel “The Admiral Zaton”.   How did a career change and geographic change challenge your relationship and how did it strengthen it?

The biggest challenge was going from being a couple to being business partners and then add starting a business in a foreign country on top of that. It was challenging, but it only made us stronger in so many ways. We figured out our roles and also learned that establishing time with no business talk was very important.

GK: What was it that made you realize that this person was the one you wanted to spend the rest of your life with?

We moved across the world to follow a dream together, opened a hotel and business, found our way in a new culture, the ups and downs, the excitement and also the loneliness of missing our family and friends…we knew if we could get through this we could get through anything together.

GK: Your adorable pup is present throughout your wedding day. How does a furry member of the family make a wedding day feel more special?

Including your pets on your special day makes it more intimate and adds a relaxed vibe to the atmosphere. Sailor stole the show, she even stayed through the dance party!

GK: Describe your wedding day in 5 words….

magical, romantic, elegant, blissful, fulfilling

GK: Aside from Custom Ties and Squares, were there any other Custom touches that you designed specifically for your wedding day?

We had a good friend, who also happens to be a talented illustrator, make us custom initial logo’s. We used them on cigars and our take home gifts of domestic olive oil that was made from the olive trees where we had our wedding.

GK: When planning your wedding what was the most important component of the day that you wanted to highlight.

We wanted it to be intimate. A huge wedding wasn’t for us, it was important to be able to celebrate with each one of our guests. Most of them flew across the world to be with us and we wanted to celebrate the love with them.

GK: Was there a memorable story that occurred on the wedding day that will be told for years to come?

For us it was the speeches given my our fathers and siblings. Megan’s Dad actually said cheers to future grandchildren and we just welcomed a baby boy on September 3rd, right before our 1 year anniversary.

GK: Did you plan special events around the week of your wedding to keep guests who had travelled from the US and elsewhere occupied and entertained?

We had our entire hotel full of family and friends as well as many airbnb’s within our small village of Zaton. We took over the town for a week. Jonathan and I had our bachelor and bachelorette parties four days before the wedding. It was a vacation for everyone, so we didn’t want to jam pack the week for them, but instead offered up our favorite things to do in the area and everyone did them on their own schedule. We also had our rehearsal dinner at The Admiral which was very meaningful to us.

GK: How has life together changed as a married couple?

You just feel closer, more as one, once you are married. Our family grew to three as we welcomed a baby boy, Roko, into the world. We couldn’t be happier.
