Although he is not a professional Mixologist, my Step-Father is no slouch when it comes to the art of creative cocktail making. Never does a visit take place without one of John's new cocktail experimentations or found recipes being introduced to us as we are greeted at the door. "Try it. Come on!" he prods until we agree to a taste.
To his credit, most of the drinks are quite tasty, but the only one we have ever asked for the recipe and continue to replicate ourselves is what he calls a "Montana Manhattan". This particular libation was picked up from a fishing buddy on a recent trip he took to Montana (thus the name). Unlike the classic Manhattan which requires sweet vermouth and bitters, the Montana version swaps those ingredients out for Tawny Port. Give it a try. Come on, you will like it!
Montana Manhattan Cocktail
