Suspenders (noun \sə-ˈspen-dər\ ) - a pair of fabric or leather straps that pass over the shoulders and fasten to the waistband of a pair of trousers or a skirt at the front and back to hold it up. Also known as braces in British English.
Did you know that Samuel Clemens -AKA Mark Twain- was one of the first people to receive a United States patent in 1871 for "Adjustable and Detachable Straps for Garments"? (Don't thank us for that nugget, thank Wikipedia!) We've all seen these accessories and maybe even worn them. From miners working the gold rush to bankers on Wall Street, suspenders have been a part of Menswear for quite a long time. And there is no sign of them going out of style. From the classic Old Hollywood feel of a black tie affair to the more quirky and relaxed feel of a country wedding, you will notice suspenders are the perfect accessory.
